He enjoyed working out and was avid about staying fit and leading a healthy lifestyle. Among his many professional accomplishments, Andy was most proud of his work with the Institute of Spirituality at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee Mission, Kansas.Īndy was a wonderful husband, father and compassionate doctor. ![]() Schwartz and his wife Janet, moved to Myrtle Beach where he assumed an executive position as Chief Medical Officer at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. He later took a position as a Chief Medical Officer at Southeastern Health in Lumberton, North Carolina. He later became Board certified as a Cardiothoracic Surgeon.Īndy served 22 years as a surgeon at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee Mission, Kansas until 2011. He was awarded a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. ![]() He graduated from Great Neck High School in Great Neck, New York and went on to earn an undergraduate degree at City University of New York and earned his medical degree at Georgetown University. At a very early age, Andy decided he wanted to be a cardiothoracic surgeon and never wavered from that dream. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine and wife, Izzy son, Tom Martin, great granddaughter, Lily Goodell his parents sister, Maxine Doughtery and two brothers, Carroll “Bud” and Jack Martin. Russ died Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. ![]() Russ was also President of the Iowa Horseshoe Pitching Association. In 1999, he was inducted into the Iowa Horseshoe Pitching Hall of Fame. He loved playing horseshoe and only became more competitive as he grew older, competing at the community, state and world levels. Russ was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his retirement, Russ continued to serve his community and church even through the last week of his life. Russ was a committed faith-based gentleman and attended daily services at both the Greene and Waverly Catholic Churches. After his retirement, Russ continued his love for farming by purchasing land north of Clarksville. Russ and Izzy made their home in Clarksville. Russ later married Isabelle “Izzy” Bruhl on July 2, 1983. On May 18, 1978, Russ lost his beloved wife, Maxine. Russ launched his own business known as Martin Electric. Russ then moved his family to rural Clarksville. They lived on a farm by Clarion from 1947 to 1969. To this union, six children were born, Tommee, Susee, Cindee, Sallee, Sandee and Tonee. On June 3, 1947, Russ was united in marriage with Maxine Farus at St. Russ graduated from Clarion High School in 1943. Russell “Russ” Francis Martin, age 93, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of Arthur and Barbara Genevieve (Miller) Martin on April 15, 1925, on the family farm in Clarion, Iowa. ![]()
